The Europeana APIs provide access to all Europeana data. This course explains what APIs are and gives you an overview and brief history of the different Europeana APIs.

About this course

You can access all Europeana data using our APIs. The full API Introduction course provides a general introduction on APIs, an in-depth overview of the Europeana APIs, the differences between the various APIs, how to obtain an API key, how to use the Swagger console and the details of all the different APIs and how you can use them. This is the short version that contains only the general introduction on APIs and the overview of the Europeana APIs.


Requirements

  • Sign up to this course.
  • Headphones to listen to instruction videos if you are in a shared office space.
  • 1 - 2 hours of your time to complete the course, depending on how familiar you are with the subject matter.
  • A decent screen to complete the training. Smartphones are not recommended for this purpose.
  • You should be familiar with Cultural Heritage Data as it is offered on europeana.eu. It will help if you know what Linked Open Data is, but if you need a quick introduction or refresher you can watch this video.
  • The introduction part of this course contains a glossary of technical terms used in the course.
