About this course
This course is designed to help you understand what data spaces are, how they operate, and the various participants involved. You will explore the value that data spaces provide for facilitating data sharing and addressing various barriers involved with data-sharing for organisations today. Additionally, you will gain insights into the specific roles, benefits, and opportunities data spaces offer to different stakeholders.
It includes several example use cases, quiz questions to check your knowledge and some open-ended assignments to become more familiar with the concepts.

- The definition of data spaces and its components as outlined by the data spaces Support Centre.
- The intrinsic value of data sharing and data spaces.
- Key concepts such as decentralisation, data sovereignty, and interoperability as they relate to data spaces.
- The difference between data spaces and other related terminology related to data sharing.
- The advantages offered by data spaces in addressing general business challenges and specific data sharing issues.
- The various participants in a data space including data providers, data users, data intermediaries, and the data space governance authority.
- How value is found in data spaces for participants.
Requirements
- A computer with a full HD screen resolution.
- 180 to 240 minutes of your time in total. The course consists of 4 modules which you do not need to complete in one sitting.

Arman Behrooz
Arman is a researcher at Capgemini Invent with a strong interest in public sector innovation and the digitization of public services. He has contributed to various European Commission projects, including initiatives aligned with the EU’s Digital Decade regulation, focusing on eGovernment and Open Data. He has an MSc in Public Administration and Organisational Science and is an advocate for data ethics.
