In today's digital age, traditional marketing methods often fall short in capturing the attention of audiences. To stand out and create truly memorable experiences, innovative approaches are essential. This training course introduces you to the “holographic postcards”, a blend between the charm of physical postcards and the immersive power of holographic video.

This course is designed for tourism professionals aiming to attract more visitors to smaller destinations, museum curators seeking to enhance visitor experiences, and marketing professionals looking for unique promotional tools. By the end of this training, you will be equipped to create engaging holographic postcards that leave a lasting impression, utilise holographic technology to tell compelling stories and showcase your offerings, and drive traffic to your museum or destination through innovative marketing techniques.

Requirements

Before starting, you need to posses:

  • Basic knowledge of graphic design software.
  • Basic knowledge of 3D creation software.
  • Basic knowledge of video-editing software.
  • A holographic pyramid.

Tools needed to create holographic postcards (you do not need these to complete this training)

  • WeaveX, a web-based tool for managing the content of different types (including 3D) and allowing the user to create holistic documentation of the cultural communities’ heritage through digital community spaces and curating digital stories and experiences.
  • 3D-heritage.eu (optional), an online repository, a 3D viewer and a collection of 3D models of European cultural heritage.
  • A small plastic holographic pyramid, a plastic device that displays small holograms (for example, Holusion Pixel. You can also try making your own).
  • Graphic design software, such as Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator or their alternatives.
  • 3D creation software, such as Blender or its alternatives
  • Video-editing software, such as Adobe After Effects or its alternatives.

Course Staff

Matevz Strauss

Matevz Straus is a Heritage+ Lead at a High Performance Computing company Arctur from Slovenia and holds a M.Sc. degree from Urban Studies (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Université libre de Bruxelles, University of Copenhagen, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Complutense de Madrid), M.A. degree from Market Communication (University of Ljubljana) and a B.A. degree from Analytical Sociology (University of Ljubljana).

Matevž has been working at the crossroad of heritage and innovation for the past 5 years, has led several award-winning projects on innovating heritage. Matevž is also a co-founder of ID20 Institute for heritage innovation and leads Idrija 2020 Association (www.id20.si ).


Alexandru Stan

With a background in software Engineering, Alexandru is leading the research and innovation projects of IN2. Since 2007 he has been active in European Research, Development and Innovation, collaborating in over 25 EU-funded projects (DIGITAL, CEF, H2020, JPICH, EIT, FP7, FP6, CIP). Always on the lookout for how new tech from our labs (e.g. AI, machine learning, content access and search, interaction and storytelling, XR) can make a positive difference to folks from different sectors, such as media, cultural heritage and GLAMS, tourism. Sometimes I get to coordinate large collaborations such as the 5Dculture project, WEAVE and CultureMoves.
