Europeana.eu gives you access to millions of digitized cultural heritage items - artworks, books, music, films, and even 3D objects - from museums, libraries, and archives across Europe. This self-paced course will guide you step-by-step in exploring the platform, searching effectively, understanding item pages, and reusing content responsibly.

What you will learn

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Navigate the Europeana homepage and interface with confidence.
  • Explore thematic collections, stories, exhibitions and other resources.
  • Master keyword searches and refine results with filters and advanced operators.
  • Understand and interpret item pages across different media types (images, texts, audio, video, 3D).
  • Recognize licensing icons and know how to reuse items.

  • Basic digital literacy (comfortable browsing websites).
  • Curiosity and interest in cultural heritage.
